December 12, 2024The Minister for Justice, Hon. Siromi Turaga, the Permanent Secretary for Justice, Ms. Selina Kuruleca, and the Solicitor-General, Mr. Ropate Green Lomavatu, together with staff from the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney-General, paid a courtesy visit to the President of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, at the State House.
During the visit, President Katonivere reflected on his term over the past three years as the President of the Republic of Fiji, sharing insights into his journey, “the journey has been both challenging and rewarding,” he noted. “I have faced numerous challenges while upholding the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji. Through it all, I remained committed to the Office of the President, I am grateful that my faith in God provided the strength to navigate these challenges.”
The President expressed his appreciation for the Ministry’s visit, acknowledging the role of young lawyers and staff in shaping the future of Fiji’s justice system. “I am humbled and privileged to welcome the Ministry of Justice to the State House today,” he said. “As I return home to Macuata, I hold my head high, knowing I have left a legacy. I encourage young lawyers and ministry staff to uphold and protect the law, remaining firm and unswayed in their duties.”
In a warm gesture, the President offered to take his guests on a tour of the State House, sharing the significance and history of its rooms with the visiting staff, many of whom were entering the building for the first time.
This visit was an opportunity to celebrate the President’s contributions to upholding the Constitution as he prepares to end his term as the President of the Republic of Fiji.
